Lock up problem

Postby bburns » July 18th, 2012, 5:51 pm

I just got a new XIOS box and it appears to be hung while booting. The screen is stuck at "pivos Technology
group, inc." :( Any suggestions?

Is that your first reboot out of the box ?
If so it might take up to 20 minutes for everything to get setup.
Additionally you might just want go through and perform the firmware update (using the recovery pin hole)

FAQ-Firmware: How to reset firmware (force flash)?
1) Download the latest firmware file.
2) Copy update.img file to mSD card, connect to the box, then, press and hold the reset/update button on the box, plug in power adapter at the same time, hold several seconds, you will see the system update screen, box will reboot once update is finished.

And pin hole is here (labelled "upgrade") ..

Ok that got me a little further. The upgrade to ICS seemed to install, but now it is stuck at "XIOS DS Media Play!" screen. It has been there for at least 30 minutes.

I guess I need to send it back:( I have tried:

- different speed SD cards
- different size (8/16GB) SD cards
- wiped cache
- wiped data
- re-downloading image
- 7zip and WinRAR to unzip image

It still hangs at the XIOS screen. Any other suggestions before I send it back?

Have you tried flashing GB instead of ICS ?
If that didn't work too, then I would say you got a lemon.
