HDD Sleep

Postby anniewhan » August 18th, 2012, 5:57 pm

Is there any way to sleep/shutdown the harddrive? I would like to leave the unit up 24/7 but if it constantly spins the HDD i rather not. Is there any scripts or setup that can put the HDD in shutdown/sleep mode after a few minutes.

spindown for mips is available on the box using optware.
so you can use "ipkg install"
Once installed here is a how-to.

Best of luck,

Its available "for" the box not "on" the box.
I mean, you will still need to download and install it from optware repository (thus the "ipkg install" command).
If you are not familiar with telnet and would rather wait for a step by step guide then I will put this in my queue.
