3.0 usb-network path not found?

Postby mediaseeker » July 23rd, 2012, 4:17 pm

Checked the forum didnt seem to find this.I have wired connection from router to AIOS and samba ip address. My laptop wifi picks up (HDD)c drive and I can transfer files, but slowly. When I use the 3.0 usb cable I get "\\192........ is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource.Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The network path was not found. btw I have bc18 :?

When you are hooked up with the USB 3.0 data port, the AIOS acts as a slave device, so no other functions work on it beside acting as an external USB enclosure.

True, but you can't do that while the box is functioning as a media player device.
So connect the USB 3.0 cable, AIOS will trigger OTG functionality, acts as a "USB external enclosure for the internal HDD in it", there will be no media player capabilities at that time (so no network access or any other functions), once done, disconnect the USB cable, box will reboot into "Media Playback" mode and you will get networking and everything back.

Yes you should see it come up on your laptop. How is your internal drive formated? ntfs or ext3 if ext3 you'll need drivers in order to see the drive on windows. Can you also test using another pc, it may be a bad 3.0.

+1,
For testing I would disconnect all attachments (usb storage, mouse, keyboard, network and wifi adapter) before powering up the AIOS when connected to the PC.
