I fixed it. You need to download ThumbGen Designer, select the templates that don't look right (text cropped), find the fields which contain wrong sized font and click on box which says "autosize text". That's it. Really easy. For some reason, by default these boxes are left unchecked which causes problems with font display. BTW, Arial is a default font, you don't need to download anything.
The downside is - you have to regenerate this for all movies in your list. I do it in auto mode and it does a good job unattended. When it's done, I go in there and fix movies with incorrect info, which is much quicker and easier then doing the whole thing manually, one movie at the time.
