hang on startup

Postby rapalax » October 25th, 2012, 8:26 pm

I have been using the latest build for weeks now, and today while I was trying to update my media library (got a new movie) the device hung. I proceeded to try and reboot, but all I got was the skin background (blue lens-flare image) without the menus or anything. There is a mouse pointer in the top left as well, but my trackpad/keybd aren't responsive. It seems to be hung. Rebooting doesn't solve the problem. There seems to be enough space left on the device.

I'll post the xbmc.log using pastebin or something shortly

Edit: moving my /root/.xbmc dir makes things work again, but of course, I am starting from scratch again :(

In an effort to restore my box I tested the following:

1. copying my old userdata to a fresh .xbmc dir causes the device to hang again

2. Copying my old Database,Thumbnails and addon_data to a fresh .xbmc/userdata will work !!!

Although I dont see the addons I had yet.. will tinker more later.

IIRC, The addons data is under userdata, the addons themselves are not.

Yep, they were under the .xbmc/addons and was also able to migrate them over without getting the hang.
