I have a 16GB micro SD card (class 10) with several 720P home movies on it. When the card is inserted in the micro SD slot the movies are not playable, they are all chopped with 1-2 seconds between frames and the sound is choppy as well. The same micro SD card inserted into the USB port via an adapter plays the movies perfectly. The same movies are also fine when streamed from my NAS.
One other intermittent problem while playing a movie, when I touch the ^ button on the remote the box reboots.

How is the card formatted ?
Also would it still break if you reverted to Android and used the same card ?

Sv: XBMC-Linux Beta 100912 Discussion and Bug Report

Postby magsol76 » October 20th, 2012, 3:17 pm

I'm getting very random functionality reg the use of subtitles (mostly srt). The only way to display a subtitle is playing a file with a subtitle file present (or dl with the subtitle addon). Then rebooting the system and play the file again- this is consistantly the procedure i go through to make subtitles show. Once i have gotten them to display they always display for the selected file. And i have also discovered that if i dl a subtitle with the subtitle addon and one subtitle is already present locally the system freezes and then restart xbmc. PS. I'm streaming all media from a NAS (smb shares, nfs wont stick for me) and yes - i have tried reinstalling the subtitle addon but no change in behaviour still.

Install Issues

Postby clintonb11 » October 20th, 2012, 8:56 pm

When I load the XBMC linux update.img to my mSD card and hold the reset button then plug in the power button, the update screen comes up, it goes through all the steps, then my box reboots and shows a blank screen. The exclamation point is lit up. Am I the only one having this issue?

I actually had to remove the mSD card and reboot for some reason. I was updating from the stock android. But it seems to be working now. Thanks for the quick reply though. Now to see if I can finagle netflix on the linux version :-)

could someone tell what firmware this guy is running, he seems to be selling these at a high cost with his own custom firmware / or is just the 100912 firmware

lol ... don't buy into these myths, there is similar listings (with almost the same wordings) since XBMC-Android 0730.
I pity the fool who gets scammed into this.

Just wanted to add this. I still have trouble booting the XIOS up. It always takes about 3-6 hard resets to finally boot into XBMC. This equates to about 5-10min with me and my wife sitting on the couch (im)patiently waiting for a movie to start. Most often it gets stuck on the XIOS DS splash screen which becomes very slightly pixelated (jagged pixels around the XIOS lettering. Also since the latest Oct update I too get a buzzing noise from the speakers at this point. When I see the splash screen turn slightly pixelated or hear the audio buzzing it's a sign that I must try try reset again. After a few loops of this game it finally makes it into XBMC. I love this box and its performance at this point, this is the one frustrating thing for me.
is this a handshake issue?

Note I turn on my receiver, then projector, then XIOS in that sequence.

I'm using wired Ethernet and an AV receiver with a 1080p projector. All media streams from a NAS.

The card is formatted FAT32 (Transcend 16GB(10)factory format).

It will be a few days before I can try reverting to Android.
