  1. Question - how do I upload my advancedsettings remotely? I looked in forums, but could not find it, so for now I copy it from usb thumb via File Manager in XBMC.
Thank you.

I always just scp the file over. From the command line on a computer (or other xbmc box) that has the advancedsettings.xml:
Code: Select all
scp advancedsettings.xml [email protected]:/root/.xbmc/userdata

Waiting is not an option, this happens early in startup and there's a lot going on.

So is this an XBMC thing or in the linux os ? :(

There needs to be an option to set it to ignore the hdmi status and use the last setting - like the ps3 or any number of set top boxes out there (maybe not an option but that's their behaviour).
On Those devices I have the freedom to, say, start music playing on the ps3 then carry on listening to it while i turn the tv off (sound through avr) and have no disruption. And no disruption when I turn the TV / AVR back on too!

Also no probs with which order I turn things on - I've ended up havin to use spdif instead of hdmi audio from my pc running xbmc to approach this level of ease if use and it's still not perfect...

Dissapointed as I was hpoing to start using these boxes around the house but they won't be usuable for me like this now :(

Sometimes I will want to start listening to music on xbmc without turning the tv on (using remote software to manage) then maybe turn tv on to carry using xbmc for more music or films. All without interruption please :)

Can we tell if the connected display powers on and trigger HDMI renegotiation? If not, what about an option to trigger HDMI renegotiation manually?

Wouldn't this be the same as reselecting the proper XBMC output resolution once you turn on the TV ?

Is it just my unit that restarts several times in the middle of a movie or when doing updates on the library?

What I find is that XIOS builds its list of available output resolutions at startup, so if there is no HDMI negotiation at that time, then only 720p is selectable later on - you need to kill the power and restart to get other choices to appear in the list (once the TV is on).

aasoror,

Are there any instructions posted on how to build the Pivos XIOS - XBMC Linux image from source? Is it open source?
I am able to build the Windows XBMC from GIT and there have been many fixes and improvements in the past month.
A new Android APK was released yesterday (2012-10-02) and it seems quite stable lately.

Anyways, keep up the great work! Really looking forward to the next build for XIOS.
