Remote stops working while on XBMC Linux after 5 minutes

Postby caesar869 » September 24th, 2012, 11:49 am

Hey guys,
Having a weird problem where the remote stops functioning after a while of playing around with the box.
I have around 4-5 boxes. All of them work fine. First i did a backup of one box and did a restore on this box (where the remote doesnt work) so I thought the restore might messed up something but then I did a clean install and tried not doing any restore and setting up box from scratch and noticed the remote stopped working after about 5-7 mins of viewing shows.

Just wanted to know if this a known issue and if anyone can point me in the right direction.

I've been experiencing the same thing and have been tempted to put it down to a faulty unit/remote. Anyone had any better luck switching to the sense remote?

Will be good when support for usb bluetooth adapters is included. Than I"ll be able to use a bluetooth keyboard.

You might want to check the contacts to the battery - I had a remote that would only work when I squeezed it around the battery area. Turns out I needed to pull the battery out and slightly bend the contacts up a bit for a better connection.

That being said, it's weird that yours will work for 5 minutes before quitting. Might be a separate issue but it's worth a shot anyway...

The same remote works with all my other boxes just fine at the same point of time, so I know for sure its not the remote.

Tried that too. I troubleshot this too many times already. I'm guessing its something in that unit that craps out a few minutes after being on, such as the IR receiver on it or somthing.

Thanks for your response guys but I still have warranty on this so might as well get it exchanged. :P
