Buffering

Postby jentz » September 11th, 2012, 4:42 am

I'm using various XIOS on the latest Linux beta, addons are working much better than in previous release, but I have this problem when streaming from any addons it plays well but don't buffer, so if I pause the the video it don't continue to read forward!

Seriously!! I just bought two of these units because they are supposed to be somewhat bug free and reliable. My Galaxy 3 runs XBMC better than these. Buffering is definitely a problem. Freezing, crashing, rebooting are a few more. I set it up with Linux just to trim the fat and the unit is still laggy. I own all kinds of devices that run XBMC and it's almost criminal how many companies are misrepresenting their products. My weak 256 ram ATV2 does donuts around anything I've found in the $100-$150 range. I'm not asking for perfect, but the amount problems with units in this price range is ridiculous. I'm sorry. I'm not a hater, but this unit is definitely not worth the $$$. I guess you really do get what you pay for.

I have an atv2 and I like this box way better. If you are using WiFi with it then try it wired (or with a wireless bridge).. the WiFi adapter on this box causes much instability but when wired its more stable than my atv2 w/ xbmc. Not to mention this puppy does 1080p.

As the person that brought XBMC to the ATV2, I'm very disappointed in comments like this. We are working hard to resolve issues while moving forward. The recent release was a volatile one, but it was very important as it brought us in sync with XBMC mainline.

I don't know of any other XBMC player that does 1080p in the 100$ price range. Seriously.

As a consumer who bought a Pivos, I'm very disappointed in comments like this as well. The Pivos team is doing a GREAT job! The only person I know of from apple development that responded to regular people's emails - was steve jobs - and he usually berated the people. Pivos made it VERY clear in the beginning that one of their primary goals was to get into XBMC mainline. It's one of their core goals. I've never been part of multi-person development team, but I can imagine it's at times, like herding cats.

I say GREAT job and keep on trucking - don't get deflated by others who don't have the patience to see something through the rough patches. I plan on buying three more to replace my ATV's as soon as a few more bugs are worked out so PLEASE keep up the good work!
