Problems with DTS passthrough

Postby schmidex » August 24th, 2012, 1:39 pm

Hi.

First of all I really enjoy xbmc on my pivos xios. But I came across a major issue which made it nearly unusable for me: The audio isn't working on some of my HD movies with DTS Audio streams. Oddly enough this doesn't affect all of my DTS movies. Most of them are playing fine.
My XIOS is connected to a AV-Reciver which decodes the Audiostream so xbmc only passes the stream through.

I cut a sample of one of the movies which non working audio. Maybe this can help to track down the problem.

Thanks for help

Run the original movie through mediainfo and paste the results.

I have the same problem with some of my DTS rips using 24th August 2012 build. In fact, the second time I played I had sound. But after skipping through, sound was lost again. Now I don't get sound at all on the file

I also noticed that "Resume from..." is missing on these files. Playback on some of my other DTS rips work fine.

I have enabled DTS/AC3 in XBMC settings. I am using HDMI to Onkyo 609 receiver.

Here is one for you:

I saw an update to the git removing 24 bit audio that is newer than the current version. Seeing as both those samples are 24 bit I wonder if this is somehow related?

I successfully tracked down the problem. DTS Passthrough don't work for audio Streams with a bitrate of 755kbps.
1510 kbps works flawlessly.

Can anyone confirm my findings?
Is this problem difficult to fix?

Yep same problem with 7th September build. Problem is I actually get sound on the first file I play but none after that.

I've confirmed that the problem still exists on 100912 build.
