Update 7/27: sneak peek: XBMC with hw acceleration

Everything related to running XBMC for Android on XIOS DS

For me, the video and audio plays fine on my Xios box. The issue that I am having is that for some reason, in the Video settings of the XBMC, my resolution is stuck at 1280x720 and Window mode (not full screen). While in the OS settings, I have it set to 1080p.

I too have the same issue with xmbc and no sound at all. No sound in the GUI, no sound on media being played. Sound works fine outside of the app though. I have tried HDMI setting for sound as well as analogue and nothing works.

Video is very choppy, and inside of xbmc I can not change the video resolution from 1280x720, so I can't bring it down at all to help with that.

Also after installing ICS, I can not play any video properly. Netflix has the scaling issue which I have seen mentioned previously, but even when playing a video online it too scales incorrectly, overscalling actually, and it is full of artifacts, it almost looks like the GPU is bad, or does not have enough RAM to play video, yet it did not occur on GB.

- Do you have "Enable HW acceleration for 2D applications" enabled (Settings ->Development) ?
- Does your TV have a native zoom setting ? my scaling issues only appeared on the TVs that didn't have this option.
- Have you tried the screen size rescaling from Settings -> Display ? (it was only respected in the OS and not the apps but that was under GB, didn't try ICS).

Thanks for the new build. Just tried it. Same issues as before, windowed mode only and only 1280x720. Additionally, Time Zone is wrong and wont' allow change as well as all the settings are erased when installing new build over the old build.

Yeah 2D HWXL is enabled. I tried different screen size scaling but no dice, and in the xbmc app it still isn't respected in ICS, it is locked at 1200x720. For now I have downgraded to GB, and that fixed all the video issues, so ICS FW img may need a little bit more work.

I stil have no sound in xbmc though even on GB, and I honestly don't know why. I'll def check out the new build, maybe that will do it.

Either way what you are doing is awesome . Keep up the excellent work!

Ok so I too downgraded from ICS back to 2.3.4 and now XBMC correctly shows the 1920x1080 resolution. Still shows Windowed Mode. When switching to Full Screen, I get permanent blank screen. The SMB share password still doesn't get retained even after setting the option to remember it. Playing a movie, crashes the app though.

I don't think that xbmc will properly run on GB.

You can easily circumvent this. Just don't click on "add smb share", instead use "add new location" or however this is called (last entry in the list)...
