no go

it keeps saying not found?

Is it possible it is because im doing this wifi? What if I hook a cable to this box temporarily and then try to execute it through telnet? will that make a difference?

Is there anything else left I can try?

I dont understand how It shows it in the folder but cant find it to execute it?

Is this something that has to execute every time I restart the box?

Finally!!!!! I got it to work....

I thought maybe for some reason it might have something to do with notepad++ or filezilla so I removed the file using filezilla from the share_favs folder, then I did everything using telnet. here is how it went.

Code: Select all

~ # chmod +x /usr/local/etc/share_favs/f02nas1.sh
~ # ./usr/local/etc/share_favs/f02nas1.sh
-sh: ./usr/local/etc/share_favs/f02nas1.sh: not found
~ # ls -all /usr/local/etc/share_favs/
drwxr-xr-x    1 root     root         2048 Sep  9 02:36 .
drwxr-xr-x    1 root     root         2048 Sep  6 01:33 ..
-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root          824 Sep  6 01:52 f01nas1.sh
-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root         1757 Sep  9 02:36 f02nas1.sh
~ # cd /usr/local/etc/share_favs/
/usr/local/etc/share_favs # f02nas1.sh
-sh: f02nas1.sh: not found
/usr/local/etc/share_favs # ./f02nas1.sh
192.168.0.107 is alive!
/usr/local/etc/share_favs #

I am not sure why but creating the script using notepad++ and transferring it by filezilla wont allow it to execute for some reason? doing it manually I had no problem. Oh Well Im always up for learning new things Ive never used telnet before and have been at a command prompt very little.

- File Browser -> Network (this detects and display all your SMB shares, groups them by server and allows you to create shortcuts to the servers on which your shares exist).
- File Browser -> NFS (this detects and displays all your NFS shares and groups them by server).

What people are missing here (thus the purpose of this thread), is the ability to bookmark a share rather than the Server on which the share exist (or more especially, create direct links for any folder under a given share).

That said, I am looking into "add source" for R22.

Very cool idea for R22!
I understand the "out of the box" function. Yes - you can get there that way, however it takes several steps to navigate to my Media. And, it appears I have to follow the same route the next time to get back to the "Music Cds" folder on my "Hub" that contains my Music. The "add source" function walks you through the multiple steps once. The next time I just select "Music" and then "Music CDs".

Also, your clarification is right on. The ideal solution is to be able to set set up a "permanent" link to ANY folder on ANY device ONCE. From then on, that "source" is just "Music CDs" or "Music HD" or "Music Videos" or "DVDs"...etc. Then the user doesn't need to know where the media is, or what UPnP devices or Media Servers are.
(And your wife will let you buy more stuff if its easy to use! )

Instead of connecting the aios to a Windows machine with external drive, I am contimplating just using a 2TB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152245&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&AID=10446076&PID=4003003&SID=1wtcudu8pi2hf
in the Aios's internal slot.

I just to make sure I can write from my PC to that drive. If it is internal, Can I set it up to have its own Drive letter within my home network and set it to have read/write access?

I prefer this option, only for the portabilty factor.

Thanks
Chris

Internal and external AIOS drives gets exposed automatically over the network once you enable "SAMBA" from the AIOS setup menus.

So just to clear .. you go File Manager -> Networks -> Workgroup -> PC then find three folders directly under that ? videos, TV and family (case sensitive) ?
